Animals Aloud is now podcasting!

After a year on XM satellite radio’s public radio channel 133, we have decided to branch out and take our show directly to the world via the web. Many of
you have told us, "I'd love to hear your show, but we don't get XM in our hemisphere yet," or "Your show airs during my mandatory Saturday afternoon nap, when else can I hear it"? Well now, you can listen ANYTIME. We are podcasting the best segments from our shows in short easily-digested 5-10 minute segments. You’ll even be able to download them to your cell phone or PDA and listen at your leisure, say when you’re walking the dog or out bird watching. (See more info below)

Early orca podcasting experiments

So what is a podcast?

Some believe it started when a group of whales pooled their resources to buy a microphone so their songs could be heard across the ocean. Since then, humans co-opted the term “podcasting” as a means of distributing audio as mp3 files you can download to your computer, iPod, cell phone or other handheld device. It’s more complicated than the whale version… but much less complicated than it sounds.

What it means: No longer do you have to schedule your day around your favorite radio programs -- you can download podcasts and listen to them when you like. You don’t even need an iPod, or other mp3 player, you can listen to podcasts on your own computer, cell phone or PDA. Think Tivo meets the web.

And Animals Aloud is free to subscribers. You don’t even have to do anything. One you subscribe through iTunes, or Yahoo, new shows will automatically appear on your computer as they’re published.

To find Animals Aloud do a search in the iTunes podcast directory (In the iTunes music store).
